Happy Earth day GROWERS! The GROW team would like to express our gratitude to mother earth for all of the life and resources that she provides for us. Lets take Earth day 2021 to a new level and think ahead for the future! Think ahead for reasons and ways to try to keep the Earth and mother nature in a healthier, cleaner state!
Cannabis and its positive effects on mother earth when grown can be much more significant than one may initially think! This may be because cannabis has always had a negative stigma around it of which we are finally shaking free from! Lets talk about a few of the ways that cannabis can help strengthen the earth and its inhabitants! The biggest factor to us that benefits the environment on the largest scale is outdoor cannabis and hemp cultivation. This can very effectively create a large positive benefit for the environment through a few simple ways.
Hemp
One of the exponentially large benefits of outdoor cannabis cultivation is mass hemp growth. Hemp can be used for basically anything from clothing to construction material and anywhere in between. Hemp is one of the most versatile products that we can grow as well as a virtually waste free plant because nearly everything about it can be used in some way, shape or form. Not only that but by cultivating massive quantities of hemp you are helping to reduce c02 gasses in the atmosphere significantly which can assist in many things including protecting the O-zone layer.
Countering Deforestation
As we all are aware of, deforestation in the present day is a serious issue not only for mother nature but for our atmosphere as well. Plants cause and encourage a lot of positive actions and reactions for mother nature, however mankind has created this massive need for trees as a resource in nearly everything we do. From things like paper, building materials, art, furniture, toys and equipment, wood is used in many more products that we see than we know of. Hemp and cannabis plants can both function as a counter strategy to deforestation. Since hemp and cannabis both grow much faster than traditional trees and can be processed much easier than traditional trees we have an opportunity to create a cycle of recurring plant growth that can both benefit the environment and the human species without having to continue to destroy what is left of the forests on our planet.
The Negative
Outdoor cannabis cultivation has zero downside whatsoever in terms of benefits to mother nature and our atmosphere, however there is one negative aspect that still exists today and has been in effect for over 100 years now. That is the negative image that surrounds cannabis which subsequently lead to the misconception of the hemp plant as well. Cannabis and hemp are both extremely useful for what they are and what they can do, however cannabis “buds” having psychoactive compounds in it (THC) that cause a “high” when ingested lead to propaganda to be produced in massive quantities demonizing cannabis and anything related to it I.E. the hemp plant.
Advancement of times
Fast forward to 2021 and we have cannabis legal in well over 50 countries on the planet, and medically accepted in many more than that! We seem to have really been able to shake the negative persona that was falsely planted onto cannabis by means of medical use. Once people started realizing they can smoke a joint or eat an edible and have much more appealing effects that can heal their ailments why would anyone ever want to have to take a pharmaceutical drug ever again? With a risk of a multitude of health issues and even addiction with some pharmaceuticals does cannabis not appear as the safest and most obvious choice? To me its a no brainer.
This leads to something more important though. With the acceptance of cannabis comes the re-introduction of hemp as a producer. A lot of industries seem to have forgotten or had never even known about the massive potential that the hemp plant possesses in its creation value. The versatility is endless!
Let's all begin a conscious effort to facilitate cannabis and hemp knowledge whenever it is a reasonable moment in time to anyone who will listen. The more who are aware, the more who can act accordingly! Let's fight deforestation and work hard to keep mother nature alive because without her where would we all be?
